Experience Completely (un)Necessary

Not funny. Not funny at all gurrrl.
GURRRL TODAY I WANTED TO CUT SOMEONE! It all started out as a peaceful, sunny day - HAHA WTF AM I TALKING ABOUT, TODAY WAS FREAKING RAINING AND HUMID!!

Well, today after school, Jasmine, Nicole, and I went to the Shilin Nightmarket as a final shopping spree there since they're leaving next week (SAD!). The place was amazing! Mouth-watering "到地" (traditional) Taiwanese snacks and amazingly cheap azn clothes! Because I bought some stuff here (three shirts, one necklace), I ended up going from 1600 -> 150 NT. I had to go home early so I waved a taxi off the road and got on.

When I told him to go to Taipei American School, he said he didn't know where that was. I thought that was rather odd, but I told him the address anyway. After about 5 minutes, I realize that I've been going in criss-cross circles around the exact same area. Because I only had 150 to spend, I had to make sure he got there on time. Hence, I asked him as politely as possible, "Excuse me, do you know where you're going?"

In a bitchy tone, he answered "YES. CHUNG SHAN NORTH ROAD." Right then, my mom called and asked me where I was. I told her everything, including the money shortage, and she told me to get off at the nearest MRT Station, where she'd pick me up. I look to my right and right there was the Zhi-Shan MRT Station. I told the taxi driver to let me off there, but he continued going forward intentionally to miss the MRT Station, and then he asked me to repeat what I said. Kind of pissed, I told him to drop me off on the side of the road, but he insisted on taking me back to the MRT Station. There was a U-Turn-able road on the left where I KNEW YOU WERE ABLE TO U-TURN, but he took the right instead. I thought it would be a small little circle, but it was not even close. He went up a bridge that took around 5 minutes to drive without traffic, and when I got to the bottom of the bridge, it was already 145 NT. I immediately asked him to stop as I saw that the MRT Station was nowhere in sight, and I was dropped at a Gas Station. Turns out, the Gas Station was literally 100 meters away from the night market. You could only imagine how mad I was, and how mad my mother was about this. Now, why was my mom mad about this?

Well, it all goes a long way back, when she got into a fight with a taxi driver. A long time ago, she had asked a taxi driver to take her somewhere. After a while, she looked around, and they were nowhere near her destination. She asked, "Excuse me, where are you going?" She was replied by silence and only an acceleration in the taxi. She then yelled, "SIR I'M TALKING TO YOU. WHERE THE HELL ARE WE GOING." With yet another silent response, she started banging the windows and kicking the seats all around (comparable with me in my usual life) and yelled at him swear words that cussed his dead ancestors in mandarin. Then, she made him stop the car, threatening to call the cops, and got off without paying. This only adds to yet another reason why I admire my mother. From that day on, she had never taken another Taiwanese taxi ever. Yes, this is How you met my mother.

When I got on the car, my mother said, "Why would you ever do that? Why would you hand your life over to another stranger with a criminal record? (She said 95% of Taiwanese Taxi's are past-prisoners) What would you expect me to do if he dropped you up in the mountains? How do you expect me to live knowing that my son is abandoned somewhere, maybe raped, or maybe killed?" This really hit me. It only takes one wrong move in your life to fuck you up forever. I'm never going to take Taiwanese Taxi's anymore. I've never believed any of my mom's pessimistic view of Taiwanese Drivers, but this changed my whole perspective on the idea. It really only takes one person to mess up the reputation of a society. I'm writing this blog right now as a warning to y'all and hopefully you'll be more careful than I was today. The least you could do was call a Taxi Service. I remember my nanny used to always say to me, "Slow, but sure."

*OH AND THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SIGNED MY YEARBOOK! I JUST READ THEM ALL TOGETHER!
